This entertaining--and blood-soaked--manga inspired an anime series. Sir Integra Wingates Hellsing, the Director of the Hellsing Agency, a.k.a. the Order of Royal Protestant Knights, keeps Britain safe from the creatures of the night. Aided by the vampire bound to the Agency's service, Alucard (try spelling that name backwards), they must combat a rising tide of bloodsuckers...and Hellsing's vampire-hunting counterpart in the Vatican, Section XIII, who isn't too appreciative of Protestant competition. The black-and-white depictions of the characters are fairly detailed, drawn in the delicately cartoon-y style typical of manga (i.e., big eyes, absurdly small, pointy noses). The art and captions retain the original Japanese right-to-left orientation.
